Glyfada

The beach of Glyfada is situated on the west coast of the island directly westwards of the capital city of Corfu at a distance of 15 kilometers and is a resort beach. In the village of Pelekas just above the beach exist a lot of facilities, like car and motorbike rental, tourist agencies restaurants hotels etc. On the beach there are two hotels, beach bars and restaurants and marine sports facilities (water ski, boats for rent).

The beach has a length of about 1.000 meters and a width of up to 60 meters. The natural environment of the beach has not rare kind of animals but the water lilly (Lilium Maritimum) . The flora is rich and consists mainly of olive trees, cypresses, and several kinds of bushes. The fauna consists only of domestic animals.

The visitors have the following possibilities in order to reach the coast:

1. Blue Buses which leaving from Saroco square every 2 hours for the village of Pelekas and from there every half hour a small municipal bus transfers gratis visitors to the beach.

2. The green buses which leave from the center of the city every 2 hours and go to he beach.

3. By private car in about 25 minutes from town center.
